CAPON BRIDGE, W.Va., April 24, 2012 — If anything has been consistent this winter and early spring, it’s that Mother Nature has executed her right to change her mind — a female’s prerogative, we hear.
Just a few days ago, it was warm enough to stand on your front porch and sweat. Yesterday, we woke up to a nasty mix of snow and rain.
Welcome to 2012. And if you care to wager on what the weather will be like for the inaugural Red Bud Run/Walk on Sunday, April 29, then you are braver than anyone associated with the Potomac Highlands Distance Club.
At first glance, though, The Weather Channel forecasts a high of 57 degrees and a 40 percent chance of scattered thunder storms. So odds are it will be a nice and runner-friendly cool 8 a.m. start for the 10-milers in Capon Bridge.
Sunrise is set for 6:17 a.m. — only 13 minutes before race-day registration and packet pick-up begins at the Capon Valley Ruritan Club in Yellow Spring.
Check out the event page for complete Red Bud information.
