MORGANTOWN, W.Va., March 16, 2013 — Join the students and staff of the WVU Student Academy of Audiology for the return of this charity 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk and 1-mile kids’ run — Saturday, March 16 at Hazel Ruby-McQuain Park in Morgantown.
Entry is a low $15 for the 5K and only $5 apiece for kids (13-and-under) in the 1-mile run. Online registration also is available (through March 12).
The 5K run/course features an out-and-back course along the Caperton Trail, which parallels the Monongahela River the entire length from Hazel Ruby-McQuain Park to the turnaround at point near the Morgantown Utility Board water plant.
The surface is primarily hardcap but runners and walkers will cross two wooden bridges. The course is overwhelmingly flat, but the first quarter-mile does feature a 250-foot incline that, by nature of an out-and-back course, participants must go down to cross the finish line.
