Time running out to reserve your PHDC gear

July 31 pre-order deadline looms

AUGUSTA, W.Va., July 24, 2013 — Time is running out to reserve your Potomac Highlands Distance Club shirt, singlet or hat at a discounted rate.

The club is trying to pre-sell 24 items in order to meet a bulk order requirement with a preferred vendor. After that, the PHDC would have its own online store set up from which members and friends alike could purchase their favorite PHDC gear and accessories and have those items shipped directly to them.

As of July 24, a total of 10 people have reserved 15 items, club officials said. Each item — a short-sleeve shirt, a long-sleeve shirt, a white running hat, a black running hat and a singlet — is $15 right now. The goal is to obtain at least nine more pre-ordered items before the end of the month.

The PHDC logo, designed by Kenny Magruder, is in black for these items (white, though, on the black hats) and is sublimated or embedded into the fabric. On the hats, the logo is embroidered.

“If we can’t do it, that’s alright. It simply means there isn’t enough interested to warrant the vendor to set up an online store for us,” a club official said. “We can at least say we tried, and the effort was made to obtain these items at a discounted price.”

The discounted price of $15 per item is for the pre-order only. Should the minimum 24-unit order be met, future orders from the online store will be a minimum of $24 per item.

Those who have pre-ordered are encouraged to send in their money as soon as possible, as it’s expected the 24-item minimum will be met. If not, of course, those checks would not be cashed.
