Training run schedule
Schedule below, but first, a little about the training runs. They are semi-organized. This means we provide a designated time and meet-up/start point, and the rest is up to you. They are intended to be self-supported – you are responsible for knowing where you are (buy a map at GRSF HQ before race day), and for bringing in your own water/sports drink/foods to keep yourself fueled. Also, please be sure to practice Leave No Trace ethics throughout the day. * We plan to support Endure Fuel Clear Blue Raspberry sports drink from EnduranceHeadquarters.com during these training runs (and on race day).

The red trail (Long Pond Trail) in Green Ridge State Forest.

In addition, RSVP is required – otherwise, a PHDC rep / training run leader might not be on site. Email – peedeepost@gmail.com – is the best way to RSVP. Also RSVPing on the PHDC Facebook group is fine. Participation in these group training runs is free and you don’t have to be registered for the race to run along with these training runs. Just come on out and have fun.

  • Remember: The official race page is located here. Everything is should be considered unofficial. Race day is Sunday,  Nov. 3.

Schedule – 2019 scheduled training runs

Sunday, Sept. 15 — 9 a.m. meet-up time at the oasis (midway point). This is located at the intersection of Green Ridge Road and Kirk Road on the southern end of the forest. This point is accessible off Interstate 68 at Exit 62 (simply follow Green Ridge Road to Log Roll Overlook). Alternatively, you can enter the southern end of the forest via Maryland Route 51 and simply turn onto Green Ridge Road. Click here for Google Maps link.

This year’s FOTM is proud to team up with Endurance Headquarters to have some pretty awesome sports drink on the course. Be sure to try it during one of the training runs.

Other dates could be added – just reach out and ask, or use the PHDC FB group forum to organize your own training run.

Each training run will have a minimum suggested distance of 8.9 miles (with a plan for most everyone to complete half the course, or about 16.5 miles). Keeping in mind the distance many travel to participate in these training runs, however, additional distance can easily be added on. Of course, the extra distance is optional.
