MORGANTOWN, W.Va., April 13, 2013 — There are countless races held on the Caperton and Deckers Creek trails, for which Hazel Ruby McQuain Park serves as a hub on its perch over the Monongahela River. Somehow, though, running there never gets old.

This time it was a pair of Morgantown runners who led the men’s and women’s fields, respectively. Aaron Thomas, 27, earned the overall win in 19 minutes and 4.1 seconds. Meanwhile, 27-year-old Meghan Phillips took fifth overall to claim the top spot in the women’s standings with a time of 21:28.1.

Alison Peck, 42, of Morgantown, earned the women’s masters (40-plus) title by finishing ninth out of 63 in 23:17.6. In the men’s masters division, Shaun Haines, 40, of Graysville, Pa., earned bragging rights (24:16).
