Pony Express 5K run/walk set for June 2
Route will primary use bike path parallel to Route 9
MARTINSBURG, W.Va. June 2 — Join race director Herb Peddicord and the Potomac Highlands Distance Club for the inaugural Pony Express 5K (3.1-mile) run/walk on Saturday, June 2 in Martinsburg.
Proceeds from the event will benefit Eagles’ Wings Educational Girls Home, which conducts a summer horse camp for girls. Specifically, the money will go towards the home’s efforts to fund the foundation of a new indoor arena.
The route is being mapped out along the new Route 9 bike trail in Kearneysville, WV. It will begin and end at the VFW Post Picnic area right off of Route 9 in Kearneysville (right before the Opequon Creek Bridge and Nakeeta RV Park).
