CUMBERLAND, Md., Feb. 13, 2013 — Join the Potomac Highlands Distance Club and friends and be a part of something bigger than yourself: The first A-Cross the Country Relay in support of a pro-life stance on, well, life itself.
Locally, the effort is being spearheaded by Tracy and Bob Carl, of Romney.
No nighttime running, and no requirement to pay $130 or more (much like other relays). In fact, there is no entry fee. You are required to purchase a certain singlet, or race shirt ($24 plus shipping), and are asked to try and raise a certain amount of money. That’s all up to you and won’t be supervised by the club.
Each section is about 3-6 miles long and you can choose to run one or more sections, as you like.
For more information, please visit this link. Then, if you want, sign up to be a part of the team from Romney, WV. Register first to be a LIFE Runner (again, that’s free), then you can register for the relay. Runners can even pick their own sections of the relay. In our area, we suggest people pick sections (on a first-come, first-served basis) on the towpath or Great Allegheny Passage between Oldtown and the Pennsylvania border.
As of Nov. 23, 2012, a handful of the local sections, or legs, already were claimed.
