ROMNEY, W.Va. — The inaugural Campus Classic (1870) run/walk will kick off on Sunday, April 22 at the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind in downtown Romney.
The event, which targets campus community members and the general public, aims to draw attention to the rich history and special mission of the facility and its 142-year history.
There are two distances being offered for this low-key, low-cost fundraiser. Participants can choose between attempting the 4,000-meter distance — slightly less than 2.5 miles — or the 1,000-meter distance, which is a bit more than half a mile.
The 4K and 1K will begin simultaneously along U.S. Route 50 at the southeast corner of the schools’ grounds. Event-day registration and packet pick-up will take place at the track, situated behind the main school facilities. That area also serves as the finish line for both distances.
Registration is only $3 per person if they are an official WVDSB campus member, meaning if they live or work on campus. Members of the general public can sign up at a cost of only $5 each. Proceeds from entry fee revenue and generous sponsor donations will benefit the West Virginia Schools for the Deaf and the Blind Foundation.
Only those whose entry forms are received on or before April 9 are guaranteed a T-shirt in their preferred size. For an entry form or to sponsor the event, please visit http://PhDispatch.com or call 304-209-8981.
