CUMBERLAND, July 21 -- You think it's hot outside? Try being covered with fur.

Hundreds of animals being judged in the 2011 Allegany County Fair & Ag Expo felt a bit of reprieve from the oppressive heat wave that hit the Mid-Atlantic states this week after a local store donated three industrial fans for the barn.

The fans, delivered to the Allegany County Fairgrounds on Thursday by Tractor Supply in LaVale and store representatives Dick Shewbridge and Chris Vanfosson, store manager, "helped the health of the many animals exhibited" at the fair, officials said.

"They offered their services freely and without reservation," fair representatives said.

It's the latest in a long show of support for the fair. Tractor Supply "has generously supported our scholarship fund for the last several years as well as providing awards for Showmanship for animal class exhibits at the fair," officials said.

In a news release, Ag Expo officials offered a salute to Tractor Supply "for being a support of our youth, 4H and FFA programs as well as the Ag Expo and Fair."
