When: Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011. Run/walk begins promptly at 9 a.m. Race-day registration begins at 8:15 a.m.

Where: Foxes Hollow Road just a couple miles west of Romney along U.S. Route 50.

Entry: $5 per participant ($20 cap per family) or only $3 per participant with 2 cans each of non-perishable food (to be donated to a local food pantry).



Turkey Day 2-mile run/walk set for Nov. 24

ROMNEY - A new running club is hitting the ground running in Hampshire County by hosting the inaugural Turkey Day 2-mile run/walk on Thanksgiving Day morning, Nov. 24, in Romney.

The walk will be an out-and-back event on Foxes Hollow Road just a couple miles west of Romney. The Mountain Maryland Marathon Club is hosting the event. As the year ends and 2012 begins, the group will be renamed and operate under the name of the Potomac Highlands Distance Club. The club is a registered nonprofit organization under the umbrella of the Road Runners Club of America and will be the only RRCA club operating in the Eastern Panhandle.

The 2-mile run/walk begins promptly at 9 a.m. Race-day registration begins at 8: 15 a.m. Specific instructions and starting line location will be available on a new blog found online at http://runreadroll.wordpress.com.

Entry for this low-key event is only $5 per participant with a cap of $20 per family or only $3 for each runner or walker who brings two cans of non-perishable food items. Those items will be donated to a local food pantry.

ROMNEY, W.Va., Nov. 24, 2011 – A new, low-key 2-mile run/walk on Foxes Hollow Road just a couple miles west of Romney, W.Va., located immediately off U.S. Route 50.

* About 40 minutes from Cumberland; 65 minutes from Oakland; 30 minutes from Keyser; 20 minutes from Capon Bridge; 50 minutes from Winchester.

Two-mile run/walk begins promptly at 9 a.m. Race-day registration begins at 8:15 a.m. Specific instructions/location to be posted in the coming days.Entry fee is only $5 per participant ($20 cap per family) OR only $3 per participant with 2 cans of non-perishable food (to be donated to a local food pantry).
