Campers dig Miners into huge first-half hole, advance to face Huskies
* Allegany led 43-11 at halftime
By The Potomac Highlands Dispatch
CUMBERLAND, March 1 -- By some accounts, Mountain Ridge had a shot at knocking off top-seeded Allegany in the second round of the Class 1A West Region west sectional playoff.
The Miners appeared to match up well with the Campers in size, with Shae Winner for Mountain Ridge working inside the paint against Allegany's Leah Wormack.
Allegany had a very different account altogether. The Campers blasted the Miners for 43 first-half points and a suffocating defense limited visiting Mountain Ridge to just 11 of its own - seven points in the first quarter and only four in the second - en route to a relatively easy 70-42 win.
Top-seeded Allegany faces second-seeded Northern Garrett in Cumberland on Thursday. Tip-off is 7 p.m.
