CUMBERLAND, Feb. 7 -- Lindsie Linaburg, a junior reserve forward with the Allegany girls basketball team, cause chaos in the middle to help top-ranked Allegany overcome a much-improved No. 3 Mountain Ridge, 57-49, in an AMAC contest Monday in Cumberland.
Campers coach Jim O'Neal has been preparing his entire team for a deep postseason run and the practices produced results against the Miners. Allegany's dynamic duo of Leah Wormack and Brooke Wharton were in foul trouble early and were forced to sit the bench. But the reserves held their own in the first period as the Campers trailed just 14-13 after eight minutes.
Allegany used full court pressure to disrupt the Miners' offense. Good defense caused Mountain Ridge to turn the ball over early on. Defensively, the Miners, doubled up Wormack and kept the other three defenders around the paint to force the Campers to shoot from the perimeter.
