Huskies close out good but not great regular season with win
* Coach Elliott: Plenty of reasons to be hopeful as first-round playoff match against defending region champion Allegany looms

ACCIDENT, Feb. 21 -- Matt Paape made three of four shots from the field.
While that statistic might not seem impressive, it could be telling for the Northern Garrett boys basketball team. That's because Paape doesn't normally score six points in a 55-46 win over visiting Frankfort in the Huskies' final regular season game.
Northern travels to Cumberland on Friday to face defending region champion Allegany. The Campers swept the Huskies in the regular season but Northern coach Chris Elliott said there's plenty of reason to hope for a competitive game.
"I just look at all those 'what-ifs' and we could be either hosting a playoff game or be where we are right now," Elliott said. "I like where we're at right now."
But two games against current No. 1 Keyser slipped away from the Huskies, as did at least one game against the Campers, Elliott said, and one against the Southern Garrett Rams in which the Huskies trailed by only two points with two minutes left but lost by nine.
The Huskies finished the regular season at 11-11, "with a chance to be closer to 17 wins," Elliott said.
