Golden Tornado fall to highly ranked, regarded Patriots

NEW CREEK, W.Va., Feb. 25 -- On Thursday, Keyser hosted former PhDispatch.com No. 1 Bishop Walsh and, after a remarkable comeback, escaped with an nine-point victory over the Spartans.
On Friday, the Golden Tornado finished what was the proverbal gauntlet to the end of the regular season with their only loss, a 58-45 defeat to highly ranked and well-regarded Class AAA foe Washington.
Keyser's Wes Washington scored 10 points in the first half to as the teams were tied 27-27 at halftime. But Washington was limited to just three points in the second half - and the team was held to just eight points in the third quarter - as the Patriots pulled away.
Washington finished with 13 points, seven steals and five assists. Dustin Fertig added seven points and five assists and Peyton Hartman had 12 points, 20 rebounds and five blocks.
Charles Haigler led the Patriots with 14 points and eight boards. Markee Smith added 13 points and 12 rebounds and Tyrek Collins had 11 points and nine rebounds.
