Three score in double figures as Sentinels rout Spartans
Fort Hill pulls away with 19-0 run to start third quarter
Bishop Walsh shoots just 35 percent from the field

CUMBERLAND, Dec. 15 - Fort Hill blew up what had been a "very, very tight game" late in the second quarter - and opened the third quarter with an overwhelming 19-0 run - to rout host Bishop Walsh on Wednesday 70-50.
Molly Mandell led all scorers with 19 points. Allysia Twigg had 15 points and 12 rebounds and Ashley O'Neal added 14 points and six rebounds for the Sentinels, who improve to 1-1 overall and 1-1 in the Appalachian Mountain Athletic Conference.
Fort Hill coach Amber Waltz said the game was close until a few minutes before halftime when her team took advanate of "a couple of steals and a couple of easy baskets." The Sentinels led 37-28 at halftime.
Waltz said the game became a bit easier when Bishop Walsh senior Ashley Turnbull, who finished with 11 points, got into foul trouble early in the third quarter.
"That worked to our advantage," Waltz said.
The Sentinels led by 27 points late in the third quarter after a field goal by Courtney Koelker. Spartans senior Rebecca Gomer's layup with 42 seconds left in the period pulled Bishop Walsh within 58-33 after three quarters of play.
