CUMBERLAND, Jan. 13 -  The cost of electricity is a major expense for many businesses and individuals.

The Allegany County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to offer solutions to this ever growing concern.  Sponsored and presented by Allegheny Power, the Allegany County Chamber is having an Electricity Choice & Efficiency Seminar to educate its members and the community on the ability to choose their electricity provider and the programs available to reduce their electricity consumption.

The seminar will be held on Thursday, Jan. 20 at Allegany College of Maryland's Continuing Education building in rooms 12-14 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Power generation is now open to competition in Maryland.  This seminar will provide important information on how to make an educated electricity provider choice in order to benefit from this deregulation.

Also, under the EmPOWER Maryland initiative, the State of Maryland will reduce energy consumption by 15 percent by the year 2015.  In response, Allegheny Power proposed and received approval for energy efficiency programs for residential, commercial and industrial customers.

Allegheny Power’s Watt Watchers programs offer Maryland customers valuable rebate incentives for lowering their energy usage.  This seminar will show attendees not only how to pay less for their electricity, but also how to use less.  A win for businesses, individuals, and the environment.

Reservations are currently being accepted through the Allegany County Chamber of Commerce.  The seminar is free for Allegany County Chamber members and $20 for non-members.
