FROSTBURG, Md., Aug. 11, 2013 — It was a record-setting kind of day along the Great Allegheny Passage when nearly 90 runners toed the start line of the 2nd annual Run for Gold Metric Marathon (pres. by HPDM), a 16.28-mile footrace from Meyersdale, Pa., to Frostburg, Md.  HPDM-logo_best

The start-time temperature was about 60 degrees, and the oppressive humidity had broken somewhat during the previous 24 hours. Some runners even wore long-sleeve shirts or trash bags to the start line in attempts to keep warm.

Steel City Road Runners Club invades Maryland. SCRRC members comprised nearly one-third of the 87-runner field in the 2nd annual Run for Gold Metric Marathon and Relay (pres. by HPDM).

And they're off! About one-half mile from the Meyersdale (Pa.) Depot, runners take off on the Great Allegheny Passage and begin their journey to Frostburg, Md.
