Best-selling author McDougal to help Two Rivers Treads, area runners with natural running clinic

For The Potomac Highlands Dispatch
SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va., June 29, 2011 – You're invited.

Runners interested in the barefoot, or natural, running style are encouraged to attend a natural running clinic in Shepherdstown. The free event begins Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at Two Rivers Treads, located at 107 W. German St.

"Born to Run best-selling author Chris McDougall is going to visit us," said TRT co-owner Dr. Mark Cucuzzella in an e-mail late Wednesday afternoon. "For those of you who met Chris last year during his visit, he is one of the funniest and best communicators in the movement to run with less shoe and barefoot."

There will be a one-hour workshop focusing on techniques of healthy running, Cucuzzella said. The clinic is open to all ages and abilities. There is no charge and no need to register.

Cucuzzella said there will be a short run - "with or without shoes" - after the clinic.
Shoes do no more for the foot than a hat does for the brain.
